Usually I free sketch things that are right in front of me — a tangible element like a bird or mountain stream. I enjoy trying to capture what I see through art. When it comes to illustrating an idea or a story, or anything that conveys emotion, I always have to do a bit of planning.
I tend to process emotion through the written word, or many times through music or even silence. Visualizing images in my mind and transferring them to paper is a struggle for me, but every once in a while I get a picture in my brain that just won’t let go.
