My sweet but savvy children asked me during breakfast, "This Sunday, can go out for ice cream for Mother's Day?"
They know how to work it, because my first thought response wasn't, "Good try, guys." Instead what flew through my mind was, "Oh no it's Mother's Day THIS Sunday and I haven't done a single thing for my mother or mother-in-law or grandmother or..."
So I absentmindedly responded, "Sure!" And I got busy.
It was a pleasure to be able to watercolor and calligraphy these cards for my mother and mother-in-law. These cards (and this blog) are a testimony that an old dog can learn new tricks! Last year around Mother's Day, I had only just begun painting at the ripe old age of 44. I just started trying my hand at calligraphy a few months ago.
I know these cards aren't fabulous works of art, but I also know both mothers will be tickled with them because they were painted and lettered with love. (It will help that their adorable grandkids signed them. See, I know how to work it too!)
I barely finished these two watercolor cards and popped them in the mail before the 2 o'clock post departed. I'm offering both cards as a free printable so hopefully you can be more prepared for Mother's Day than me!
Enjoy, and blessings on all the mothers out there, not only this Sunday but all year long. I know firsthand that you have the hardest (and most amazing) job on the planet.
Happy Mother's Day!
